rilo

Who built this

One father who wanted a phone his children could use to call the people who love them, and nobody else.

Marijn Vandevoorde, founder

Rilo is made by Small Victories, a small company based in Merelbeke-Melle, Belgium. It has one founder, Marijn Vandevoorde, who also answers the child-safety address on this site personally. He built Rilo because he wanted his own children to have a phone that could call the people who love them, and nobody else, without a parent having to trust a stranger’s moderation team to make that true.

What Rilo is not

  • Not a video calling app. Calls are voice only.
  • Not a social network. No profiles, no feeds, no discovery, no usernames.
  • Not a location tracker. The apps never ask for location and never send it.
  • Not a parental monitoring tool. Parents choose who their child can talk to. They cannot read the messages, and neither can we.
